Rotary Club Firenze

Founded in 1925


June – December 1924: the group of promoters meet to create the Club. The Secretary is Eng. Giuseppe Checcucci for a few months and then Doctor Guido Gaya who will be Secretary of the Club until 1959, for 34 years.

February 10th, 1925: the Rotary Club Firenze is officially founded and the first Board of Director is elected:

Vice President - Prof. Luigi Pasqualini

Secretary - Dott. Guido Gaya

Treasurer - Sig. Francesco Baglioni

Members of the Board - Sig. Carlo Moriani, Prof. Ugo Ojetti

The founders were 25 and they were used to meet in Baglioni Grand Hotel. There names here below:

March 7th, 1925: first official meeting with the approval of the Constitution Act. Rotary Club Firenze was the nineth club in Italy after Milan (Nov 20th, 1923), Trieste, Genova, Torino, Roma, Napoli, Palermo, Venezia.

December 12th, 1938: Rotary Club Firenze is dissolved for political reasons, president Umberto Torrini.

March 18th, 1944: the Militar Allied Governament authorizes the reconstitution of the fiorentine section of Rotary Italy.

April 13th, 1968: Mr. Giorgio Bompani founds the Rotaract Club Firenze, first in Italy and third in the world. The foundation is prepared by Beppe Fantacci and Marcello Fantoni. The President of Rotary Club Firenze was Massimo Galletti di S. Ippolito.

November 24th, 1980: Gianluca Pinto founds the Interact Club Firenze.

May 3rd, 1984: The Governor Piero Castagnoli, with Pier Francesco Scarselli (President) together with Francesco Mazzoni and Stefano Fucile, founds Senioract Circle first in the world. The club is dedicated to the over 29 years old young man. The first President is the same Stefano Fucile.
